I asked Coursera if I could enroll in their SEO course for free. (This is called “Financial Aid” or “Scholarship”.) To my utter surprise, I was accepted.
Just now, I have finished Week One of the lessons. I am extremely proud in slaying my fear demon: The Fear of SEO.
If you are a Freelance Writer looking for a job right now, you hear this word a lot.
SEO, SEO, SEO.
It’s like a chant. To bring in Clients.
SEO means Search Engine Optimization.
It means, for a freelance writer at least, writing in a style that will make what you rank appear on the first page of Google Search. Or Yahoo Search. Or Bing. Or Youtube.
I am learning this skill (for free!) from a reputable on-line university (UC Davis) and I am damn proud of it.
I have always been a tech klutz.

But now matter, if I must innovate, if I am to be on top of things, I must grow.
I’ve never been scared of being the best. I’ve always been competitive. What happened to me the last ten years was just a hibernation.
So RIP to the Bullshit. As the song says. No more excuses.
After I learn this, I am going to apply again for financial aid. Again, with UC Davis and Coursera. This time for the Content Marketing course.
Ain’t gonna pray for this (of course, I’m atheist).
Gonna prepare on how to nail that scholarship, gonna test my luck.
